Job Description:

As a College Guidance Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in assisting students and their families in navigating the complex landscape of college admissions. Your duties will include meeting individually with students and parents to explore suitable college options, providing ongoing support throughout the application process, and serving as a valuable resource for admission criteria and college data for various global education destinations.

You will guide students in understanding and utilizing college admission data management systems, such as CIALFO, and assist them in completing application forms like Common App, UCAS, UC, OUAC, and others. Additionally, you will monitor individual student progress, offer guidance on interviewing techniques, self-assessment tools, and application essay writing, and ensure timely follow-ups via email, telephone, or Skype.

Ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with a deep understanding of the college admission process across different institution types and selectivity levels. You should be comfortable working with students one-on-one or addressing larger groups to discuss college admissions and research. Flexibility in working with students of various grade levels, administrative proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues are essential for success in this role.

Administratively, you will participate in various college counseling office events, administer standardized exams, coordinate college visits, and support the Director of College Placements in ensuring the efficient operation of the department. Moreover, you will engage in research and development activities to stay updated on higher education changes, maintain relationships with admission professionals, and contribute to school-wide college preparation plans.

Furthermore, you will educate families about financial aid and scholarship opportunities, share relevant information in a timely manner, and coordinate internally and externally to ensure comprehensive support for students and families throughout the college admissions process.
